Spotlight – Trey Martinez Fischer

 tmf-iiAfter bursting onto the scene by earning Democratic “Freshman of the Year” in 2001, Representative Trey Martinez Fischer continues to produce a very impressive record of working for the people of his home district in San Antonio, and for all Texans as vice-chair of the House Committee on Insurance.

Martinez Fischer has been named as a “Public Interest Champion” by the Texas Public Interest Research Group, and he has earned national recognition for his work on Hispanic Leadership, including being invited to speak as a panelist at national conferences for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), the National Education Leadership Initiative (NELI), and the DNC’s National Hispanic Summit. This year, Martinez Fischer was elected as chair of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus. 

Representative Martinez Fischer’s record of achievement is a welcome addition to the House Insurance Committee this session.  He has focused his efforts on prompt payment of insurance claims as well as damages for certain insurance practices.  In addition, he has crafted proposals relating to regulation of property and casualty insurance rates, required use by insurers of certain standard insurance policy forms for residential property insurance, and the election of the commissioner of insurance.
